The GA-1000 series is the first in the Gravitymaster lineup to be equipped with digital compass capabilities, creating a timepiece that perfectly matches the needs of the modern aviator, both in terms of function and appearance. Pressing the 9 o’clock button in any mode immediately switches to Digital Compass mode and the 8 o’clock button returns you to the mode you were in prior to Digital Compass mode. Continuous direction readings can be taken for 20 seconds, during which the second hand points to north, a textual direction indicator is displayed in the upper display and the direction angle value is displayed in the lower display. Bearing memory lets you temporarily store and display a direction reading so you can use it as a reference later when taking digital compass readings. Other features include temperature measurement, large numerals, and thick hands for easy reading. A coating on the tip of the second hand and minute markers reacts with the illumination of the watch’s black light for easy reading in the dark.
A new type of resin bracelet type band uses “fine resin”* square elements combined with steel-embedded H-shape elements, which enables both a lighter weight than metal without sacrificing durability. The bracelet configuration also provides a better fit than standard resin bands.

Fine Resin is a type of polyamide resin that is strong and highly resistant to discoloration caused by chemicals as well as UV light. It is approved by the US Pharmacopoeial Convention (USP) as a Class VI product. These properties combined with the fact that it is light weight make it perfect for aviation applications.
